Amore
Amore in Floyd Knobs, IN, is an Italian cuisine restaurant. They serve a variety of dishes, one of the most popular being the lasagna. It has a much different setting than Olive Garden with it being smaller and more intimate. It is also less of a drive in comparison, which is conveniently why a few students at FC also work there. Amore offers great service, scenery, and dietary options. It is like a hidden gem in Floyd Knobs since it is not commonly known outside of the area. There are not many options when it comes to romantic dining in Floyd Knobs, so it sets it apart from the rest. For any couple who wants to stay in the area but still enjoy pleasant Italian cuisine, Amore is the way to go.
Yellow Cactus
Yellow Cactus is a Mexican restaurant in Floyds Knobs, IN, and Louisville, KY. They serve a blend of Mexican and American food. Yamato Japanese Steakhouse
Yamato Japanese Steakhouse is in New Albany, IN, and Corydon, IN. As the name suggests, they serve Japanese cuisine. Many people around this area are fans of Dragon King’s Daughter but side by side, Yamato slaps DKD right on the back.
“I love Dragon King’s Daughter, but I’ve been to the other one and it’s like crazy good,” said junior Silas Tuner.
Their menu consists of hibachi dinners, bento dinners, yaki soba, and numerous different sushi options and the option for steak as a combo or on its own (New York strip steak). The cultural scenery makes it a prize-winner compared to other restaurants by bringing professionally seared Japanese cuisine to New Albany and Corydon. They have an attractive variation of Japanese cooking with a very romantic atmosphere that sets the mood for a special night out. They will be closing a little earlier on Valentine’s Day at 9:30 p.m., so do not wait to book a reservation.
Louisville Zoo
The Louisville Zoo is always a fun place to go with loved ones. While it might be a little cold, there is the option of exploring inside exhibits instead. Previous years they have offered Valentine’s Day specials, such as in 2015 when they offered pet adoption for $45 dollars. There is not much information on whether they are holding a special event this year. Still, even the zoo animals need some love too. Their elephants Mikki and Punch have been together at the zoo for over 30 years. Their bond is special, just like the bonds that are shared during this day. Looking to enjoy the time with your loved one in a way that is outside of dining, or just outside in general? Consider visiting these lovable animals.
Shopping together
Can’t decide what to get your loved one? Want to spend quality time without just sitting down somewhere? This is for you. Some people like receiving gifts, some like giving them. Whether you are spending Valentine’s Day with a friend or a significant other, going out and cruising around malls and stores is a fun way to spend quality time with someone while also looking for things for yourself. Plus, the Valentine themed items and decorations are always fun to look out for in stores. Anyone that is looking for a variety of options in one place, head to Mall St. Matthews in Louisville, KY. Green Tree mall in Clarksville, IN is a good option, too, but St. Matthews has a wider variety of stores. Craft stores like Michaels or Hobby Lobby are also fun places to look around on Valentine’s Day if you want to make something together or for each other. There are tons of varieties for this option.
