The next upcoming event for the class of 2024 is the Senior Dinner Dance. The PTO has put together an extravagant night for the seniors this Sunday, Jan. 14.
“I love watching the seniors come in all dressed up, get served a sit-down dinner, and then cut loose and enjoy themselves on the dance floor,” said PTO chairperson Jennie Olmstead.
While many students have begun preparations for the dance, some find it difficult to plan to go to a dance if they are going with a group or even by themselves.
“Preparing for a dance to me would be deciding who is all going together, where the group can eat before and afterward, and deciding what to wear to the event,” said senior Loren Hollander.
Since 2018, the Senior Dinner Dance has been an exciting event for the seniors to spend time with each other before graduation.
“My favorite part about the SDD is watching the seniors enjoy their time as a class. Most events are a combination of multiple grade levels. We’ve concentrated these last few years on hosting a few events a year for just the senior class. It provides a great opportunity to create memories that will always be cherished,” said Olmstead.
The Senior Dinner Dance this Sunday at The Olmsted, a venue located in Louisville. The event will begin at 5 p.m.
“It is a full-service sit-down dinner. We usually have around 200 students attend the dance,” said Olmstead. The dance will be filled with music and smiles from all the seniors who spend their last moments of high school together.
“It is really sad to think that these are my last school dances ever with my friends. Time truly does fly by and you have to take every opportunity to make the most of your years in high school,” said senior Ava Spurgeon.
As the second semester approaches the clock is ticking until graduation, so the PTO is making the last year full of exciting experiences for the seniors.
As anticipation for the dance approaches, seniors are beyond excited for the enchanting evening.
“My favorite part about getting ready for a dance is spending that time with my friends. I have so many memories that I have made with my friends on the days that we get ready together. It’s just something special listening to music and talking together,” said Spurgeon.
For many seniors, the Senior Dinner Dance will be a night to remember. A dinner filled with elegance mixed with the fun celebration of their last year of high school.
“Being a senior this year is sad to think about. Knowing that this is one of my last high school dances can be emotional but to remember just to have fun and make memories with your senior class is the best to think about,” said Hollander.
