When it comes to sports, sometimes people know what they want to do, while others need to decide what is available for them. For Presley Fuller, she had a list of sports, and volleyball stood out amongst the rest.
Fuller has been playing volleyball in school for eight years and in clubs for seven. During her sophomore year, she made the varsity team.
“I started varsity my sophomore year, much to my surprise. I had worked my butt off all club season and summer, so when tryouts came, I was the one they chose. I was so excited to be playing at a higher level, but it meant I had to leave my teammates from last year behind,” said Fuller.
During her junior year, she had two jobs, coached and played volleyball, and still had work during school. She decided to start prioritizing herself later on, and kept her grades up by doing as much work as she can during school. She does this so she can enjoy her time at night with friends and family.

“Balancing school work and volleyball while also having a job is not easy work. I often found myself stressed out and needing a break, but having a calendar and supportive family is what really helped the most,” said Fuller.
Fuller’s teammates describe her as energetic and said that she always gets the team hyped up.
“She would show up to practice smiling, and then she would play music to hype us up. She would, like, just be pushing you, cheering you up, giving you a high five,” said senior Ava Casteel.
Casteel and her other teammate, senior Maya Jackson, both claim that her high energy and determination push the team to care about the game they are playing.
“She’s very determined, very focused, but she can also let loose and just play the game. Just kind of play the game and be fun, and we love it, and it’s nice to share the love for the same game,” said Jackson.
Fuller says she loves how games ca
n go either way and that they are always exciting and bring out so much energy.
Despite challenges such as a part-time job and school, Fuller always finds a way to uplift her teammates and bring out the energy in herself and others.
